“One more?” my girls yelled from the middle of the lake, wanting to jump off the floating dock one more time before we left the beach.
“One minute!” my kids holler back at me when I tell them it’s time to turn off their favorite tv show.
“One more day,” my husband and I say to each other on our last day of family vacation.
There are just some experiences we have that, to be honest, we wish didn’t have a time limit: more sleep, a longer vacation, more youth, more time with a lost loved one. Reminds me of an intense basketball game where the score is tied and the game is won by a last second shot. The losing team yearns for just a few more seconds.
Unfortunately, a lot of experiences in life are finite. As humans, our lives also have a time limit. We won’t get to experience “one more” or “a few more minutes.” When our time comes, that’s it for our earthly presence. As it says in Psalm 103, “As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more” (vs. 15-16).
Yet, there is hope. In John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” God provides a way for us to have eternal life with Him, but we have to make that choice. Are we going to use our time now to accept Jesus as our Savior or reject Him?
Let this moment be your “one more.” One more moment to turn to Him.
