He still does miracles

“I will keep trying and pray for a miracle,” our POA wrote to us at the end of the day on 12/30/2025.

We had only 24 hours left to get our girls’ passport photos taken, passports applied for, passports printed and visas received from the US Embassy. Per our adoption agency coordinator, this has never been done before in one day in her experience. If we failed to obtain the visas, when the travel ban would take effect on 1/1/26, our girls would have to stay in Haiti and unable to travel to the U.S. until the travel ban was lifted for adoptees, which was unknown. They wouldn’t even review it again until another 6 months. We had started this process in 2017 and were matched with our girls in the fall of 2024, so we were very much ready for them to be here. Their papers were due to be ready at the end of January 2026, so we were so close.

We prayed, we worshipped and we fasted. We reached out to our government representatives and called the U.S. Embassy in Haiti. We were desperate. On the morning of 12/31/25, I opened my bible in hopes of hearing some encouragement from God. I randomly opened up to Daniel and came across an already highlighted verse in chapter 3: “He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods” (verse 25). It was a beautiful reminder to me that Jesus was with us no matter what happened that day.

We clung to our phones all day to get updates on how things were going in Haiti. Every beep, every alert made our hearts beat a little faster as we immediately checked to see if it was good news. In the morning, we were informed that our girls were with our representative and they had gotten their passport photos taken. Check, check. Onto step 2, getting our paperwork from Emigration to the adoption unit. We waited and waited.. To find out that our representative was having trouble moving forward at this step. The guards wouldn’t even let her past a certain point of the building which is where she kept getting stopped at the day before.

It seemed impossible. Meanwhile, my husband receives an alert on his phone for the bible verse of the day- reluctantly, he checked it: Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

After a while, we find out that our papers in Emigration had been moved the night before, but were locked in someone’s desk drawer and that person was not coming into work that day. We were told that he was going to send his key in with someone else in order to unlock the drawer. At 2:26pm, we received an email, “We got them (the passports)!!” She is on her way to the embassy! Praise God!

At 4:01pm, they confirmed that our representative and our girls were inside the U.S. Embassy and would not have phone access past a certain point within the building so we waited and prayed. And, after an hour and 40 minutes, we emailed asking for any updates. Then, sometime after 6pm, we got a phone call… “We got the visas!!”

God took a travel ban and used it for His glory. He used it to reveal His power and do what seemed impossible to humans.

He still does miracles.

Whatever you’re praying for right now, hoping for, longing for… don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. Seek Him, seek Him wholeheartedly and trust Him. Trust His timing, His ways, His power. He can do ANYTHING.
